Data & methodology

Evidence first. Uncertainty visible.

Closer Cultures separates what is known about a relationship from what still needs checking, and keeps factual verification separate from current status.

Verified

Strong evidence

The relationship is supported by authoritative evidence. Where possible, both sides are checked.

Supported

Useful evidence, more checking needed

There is meaningful support for the relationship but the record is not yet strong enough for the highest confidence state.

Unverified

Reported, not confirmed

A relationship may be recorded from a discovery dataset while independent verification is still outstanding.

Important distinction

Verification is not status.

A relationship can be well evidenced without Closer Cultures claiming it is currently active. Current, ended, on hold or other status labels require their own authoritative support.
